- If the downloaded content is too large, it may take a long time for the data to be transferred to your in-car navigation system via the AVICSYNC App. In such cases, you can also synchronize the content using Naviextras Toolbox on your computer and the “SyncTool” menu of the in-car navigation instead.

AVICSYNC is a dynamic companion App that allows you to connect your iPhone to a compatible Pioneer NEX navigation receiver. Once linked, the NEX navigation receiver communicates with your iPhone to share information such as contacts, navigation history, planned routes, POI favorites, and even where you parked your vehicle. With AVICSYNC, your NEX navigation receiver can also access Premium connected services* such as real-time local search, weather, traffic, parking, and gas prices ensuring that you’ll have all the information you need to reach your desired destination.
In addition to augmenting your Pioneer NEX in-dash navigation experience, AVICSYNC also works as a standalone navigation app. This means you’ll always have access to Pioneer’s accurate turn-by-turn navigation, even when you’re not in your vehicle.

Works great with the latest firmware 1.05 on my AVIC 8100NEX.
Greatest idea ever.if it only worked and because it doesnt I feel like Im not getting the best experience out of my $1000 radio. I already cant use the back up camera and pioneer refused to do anything about it. So Im really disappointed with this unit and this app... Pathetic.
I used to use a Garmin Nuvi 3597 and used an app called Smart Link...That was fantastic. Voice search and all Friendly user interface (UI) Take a look you developers and learn from it
For all those complaining that you cant get past the share data permission screen, you need to go to display settings and change from zoomed to standard. Now that Im past the permission screen I cant get it to sync with my 8100NEX. I even updated the firmware, still nothing.
Paid top dollar for head unit wanted to update the maps for the gps had to download this app to download the map update to upload to my head unit. AVICSYNC keeps disconnecting from head unit after about five or 10 minutes and the map upload takes several hours what pain in the butt. Buy a different head unit other than pioneer!
