App is crap

Even though my unit (NEX AVIC5000) is paired with my iphone6s by Bluetooth and all other Bluetooth functions work, app is not communicating with the unit or vice versa. So its useless. Even tried to connect by USB, nothing. Why was this app and firmware update even released?
